Manufacturer, Vitra, displays its new products and concepts in open landscapes, walk-in shops and display windows at the Orgatec Office Furniture Fair in Cologne, Germany, with the Bouroullec Brothers having conceived ‘Workbays’ for the company.
The concept redefines the idea of the traditional working environment in an effort to break the conventional static planning structure of most offices. The multi-functional design builds upon the transforming workplace – one that is open, fertile and fostering exchange of communication, through systems that provide employees the freedom to select the work environment that suits their individual tasks.
‘Workbays’ is made up of wall elements in two different heights so that it can be extended and adjusted as required – growing organically. ‘Workbays’ is characterised by a sound damping feature to help absorb any disturbing noise in the areas surrounding the individual rooms. Each space can accommodate various workplace activities from telephone booths, video conference rooms, and reading corners to coffee corners and meeting rooms – all without having to ostracize colleagues.
