Five South Island libraries choose INSTINCT

February 25, 2018All Projects
At Instinct Furniture, our goal is to always provide excellent furniture designed around a close understanding of our customers. The result is, a wide range of products catering to diverse libraries, each with their individual vision and operating style.

This diversity is demonstrated through five South Island libraries, who each undertook to improve their customer interface by deploying Instinct counters and pods designed to respond to the challenge of change.

GLO 1600 at Elma Turner Library.

Nelson City’s Elma Turner Library favoured GLO — a contemporary counter featuring height adjustability and an interactive, cantilevered meeting end. GLO 1600 was installed as a help desk / issues point. Our compact GLO MINI was deployed deep in the library as a help / roaming point.

Also in Nelson, Nightingale Library chose STEALTH 2100, a classic, height adjust issues / help station, featuring a rectangular desktop and a curved meeting end. STEALTH makes a statement, finished with bold ‘Raspberry’ panelling.

At Tasman District’s Richmond Library, YAKETY YAK 1200 and YAKETY YAK Round 1000 pods were deployed about the library inviting customer interaction.  Our YAKETY YAK family features organically curved worktops and seated to standing height adjustment.

Tasman’s Motueka Library chose a unique combination — BEAN Counter was positioned next to ASK ME Oval 1250 to form an engaging circulation area.

Marlborough District Library (Blenheim) chose YAKETY YAKs for their highly interactive qualities. A YAKETY YAK Round 1000 was deployed as a welcome station at the library entry with two YAKETY YAK 1200s deployed as help points throughout the library, all sporting barrels finished in stunning ‘Pacific’ blue.

These five library locations highlight the strong move away from traditional counters to self-service models, supported by strategically placed staff points.

Customer feedback:

“With changes to our service delivery model, we were after more versatile, less intimidating furniture solutions that were height adjustable for the comfort of both staff and customers.  We have been very pleased with GLO 1600, GLO MINI and STEALTH, and the great customer service that we have received from Instinct Furniture”.
Cat Cliffin, Team Leader Service Delivery, Nelson City Council.

“Our YAKETY YAK, ASK ME and BEAN desks have all proven to be great choices. They have allowed us to make better use of our spaces and they are also more welcoming and less intimidating than our old desks.  Instinct Furniture were so helpful to deal with, going to extraordinary lengths to meet the tight timeframes required for our project”.
Glennis Coote, Libraries Manager, Tasman District Council.

“With the introduction of RFID self-service and the subsequent change in our service delivery model, we were looking for new Smart workstations for the District Library in Blenheim. We wanted height adjustable solutions and are very pleased with the flexibility the YAKETY YAKs have given us”.
Glenn Webster, District Libraries Manager, Marlborough District Libraries.
