Future proofing libraries

At Instinct Furniture, we design with the future in mind

None of us can predict exactly how libraries will evolve. However, we see more and more of our customers abandoning larger, traditional counters in favour of our compact, customer-orientated service desks and information pods. The benefits are immediate and the ability to respond to change more certain.
Adaptability

Our products are made to respond and adapt to meet the needs of your library. Help pod, circulation desk, teaching or roaming station; staff have the tools to re-create their space, adapt to change and respond to the moment.

Height adjustability

Electric seated to standing height adjustability enables staff to customise their workspace. Staff are able to work at a safe and comfortable height, while responding effectively to a variety of tasks. Height adjustability also allows staff to cater to the customer’s individual needs; the young, the elderly, or those in wheelchairs are all able to interact with staff at a comfortable height. Read more…

Smart Ergonomics

We design for the ‘people fit’. Organic worktop contours optimise free movement between the staff member, the customer and devices, while height adjustability fits the person to the task.

Customisable

Our pods, desks and counters are designed to stand-alone or group together, to create innovative solutions for your library space. Customise your desk even more with our exciting range of colours and finishes. Read more…

Mobility

Our compact pods, desks and counters are designed for ease of mobility and are simple to re-deploy as the need arises. This provides flexibility within library and learning spaces, helping you to adapt your library space as it continues to evolve.

Customer focus and connection

More than ever today’s counters and help desks are about interacting with people. Compact worktops with friendly cantilevered meeting ends invite customers to connect and engage, providing a welcoming platform to interact with customers.

Collaboration

Our designs support collaborative learning environments where social interaction is key. Our products provide the ideal platform for students, teachers and library staff to get alongside and work together to discuss and share information.

Environmentally friendly

We design within a lifecycle framework. By considering the environmental impacts of our products from manufacture to disposal, we work hard to reduce our products’ overall environmental impacts. Read more..

Built to last

With robust construction and quality components (like our world-class LINAK actuator system), our products are built to last making them a prudent investment.

Furniture fit for the future

In 2013, Paul White, our Director of Design was invited to write an article for the book titled ‘Better learning and library spaces’. Read Paul’s article ‘Furniture fit for the Future’

What are the most important things a 21st-century library should do with its space?
‘Better learning and library space’ addresses this question, capturing the insights and practical ideas of leading international librarians, educators and designers.
