Having journeyed through time stockpiling literature ‘The Little TARDIS Library’ has arrived in London with an array of classic books to give away to children, and all for free.
As Doctor Who fans know, size can be deceiving. Though just over a metre tall its interior is packed full of literary gems which will transport children on a journey through the imaginations of some of our greatest authors.
From Lilliput and Narnia to Middle Earth and Wonderland, the Little TARDIS Library has explored all of literature’s fantasy worlds and filled it’s endless shelves with the many stories told at each location – packed with all the classics from literary greats like Lewis Carroll, CS Lewis, Roald Dahl and Oscar Wilde as well as books by popular contemporary children’s authors like Julia Donaldson and JK Rowling. Selections of work by Charles Dickens and Shakespeare will be available for younger readers looking for a challenge.
The Little TARDIS Library is embarking on a tour of the UK, sharing stories with children and young people. It will be landing in schools, libraries, parks, plazas and beaches.
Little Free Library is a charity who provide children with access to books through easily transportable pop-up libraries. Director of the charity Nick Cheshire says, “The TARDIS is an iconic and engaging piece of sci-fi art that will help engage children and young people to pick up a book and inspire a love of reading.”
